Here is a great film I would like to share with you:
Eyes Wide Shut (July 16, 1999) is a psychological drama structured fundamentally on many elements of erotic nature. The film was directed and produced and even co-written for the screen by Stanley Kubrick, a famous movie director, an eccentric one, who was well known for his blockbuster movie “Space Odyssey”. “The Shining” was another one who made Kubrick on the list of the top directors in Hollywood back then. Eyes Wide Shut, based on the novella Traumnovelle (Dream Story) written by Arthur Schnitzler, was Kubrick’s last film before he passed away. The story is set in and around New York City, where Dr. Bill Harford (played by Tom Cruise) is shown perplexed as he pursue an odd exploration of sexually charged stamina deeply rooted in his conscious and unconscious. His wife Alice (Nicole Kidman) revealed to him one night that she once, a year earlier, pondered about having an affair, but that certainly shocked Dr. Harford. The embarrassing situation he was framed into led him to a long night of a lively sexual tempting journey that reached its climax inside a forbidden to the profane “House”, after he got the password “fidelio” form a friend, a musician who had access to the House. Infiltrating inside the House, he witnessed a masked orgy practiced by members of what appeared to be a secret society. However, within all the tempting settings he was put in, Dr. Harford succeeded in staying fidel (faithful) to his wife Alice who had been experiencing sexual fantasies as well but did well in keeping the bond with her husband unbroken.
The film generated a lot of positive critical reaction.
I really enjoyed this film; it is one of my favorites. I loved all the settings a lot, especially inside the House and the cult musical mood that went with it…
